Making a photo collage. How to make a collage of photos with your own hands: ideas, methods and design examples

If you want to give a loved one a pleasant surprise or just diversify the interior of the house, then think about it. In this article we will talk about what a collage is, as well as its main varieties. You will also learn about the process of making such works with your own hands at home.

Collage and how to create it

Collage(from French coller - gluing) is the creation of a composition from dissimilar elements. In a narrower sense, a collage is an original image of several or many photographs and pictures.

As a rule, there are two main ways to create such works. When choosing the first one, you will need a large sheet, on which all the collage elements, glue, scissors and materials from which you plan to make a collage will be placed: photographs, magazines, newspapers, etc. A variety of materials can be combined in one work - the appearance of a collage can only be limited by your imagination.

An example of an original collage

All you need to create a collage if you choose the second method is a computer, materials for work and "Photo COLLAGE". Note that absolutely any images from your PC or the Internet can act as sources for the collage.

Types of collages

The biggest plus of collages is that they can be devoted to absolutely any topic. If we talk about the most popular types, then it is immediately worth noting family collages. The ideal material for such works, of course, are photographs that depict all family members.

In no way inferior to them in terms of prevalence are “romantic” collages, clearly illustrating the history of the couple. Such a collage is not only an original way to cheer up your soulmate without a good reason, but also a great gift for another significant date - an anniversary or a wedding.

It is impossible not to mention the collages compiled in the "hot pursuit" of trips. Such works are both an aesthetic pleasure and a kind of report that can effectively combine all the photos on one sheet and become a creative decoration for a living room or bedroom.

Vacation collage

They remain invariably popular and will help you make a list of goals and tasks for the year, as well as become an excellent motivation for achieving them.

So, you have learned about what a collage is, which means that it's time to try your hand at making it in the PhotoCollage program.

Hello dear readers! Today I will share with you a technique on how to create a collage from photos on a computer. Read the article to the end and you will learn several ways to create a collage. One of them is sure to please you.

Collage- This is the arrangement of photographs on one canvas. There are several types of such compositions and they are determined by the purpose for which they were created.

Family photo puzzle.

It is made from photographs of all family members. This also includes romantic ones that tell a love story. And the purposes here are different: as gifts or for interior decor. Agree to be pleased to enter the room and see the history of the emergence of your family. The longer you stay together, the more images will grow.

Vacation photo puzzle.

It is, in a way, a kind of report on how the vacation went. After all, it happens that the vacation has passed, but we did not notice it. Can become a stylish decoration in the bedroom.

Salesman collage.

This view is created in order to show all products in one message, so as not to litter the air. It is mainly used by networkers, whose choice does not exceed 50 products.

This type of composition is created in order to visualize their goals in order to achieve them without fail. Since if we set goals just in our head, then 98% of them will not be achieved. There will be some obstacles, excuses to make them come true. And then before your eyes there will be a callous picture that will make you move, move and act. And this is already a certain path to success. Is not it?

Now we will analyze in detail how to create a collage. There are more than one of them, I will cover the most popular:

  • Using the program PhotoCollage.
  • Photoshop.

PhotoCollage program.

There are special programs for creating collages for both smartphones and computers. For example, PhotoCollage. It is free. You can download it on your PC using the search engine where you can find it. And follow the simple steps to install it. Next, run the program and select "New Collage".

We choose a template in accordance with the theme: simple, children's, wedding and others. You can also choose a background. And place photos in the empty boxes in any order. After that, you need to save it so that you can print it or install it as a screensaver on your desktop.

Open Powerpoint. And in the main menu, select the “Comparison” design to start with. Then select the “View” section, then “Sample Modes” and finally “Slide Master”.

Using "Insert layout" add a new layout. Next, you need to insert a placeholder from the list. We assign the name Collage to the resulting layout and now you can insert photos, pictures and make a background. After finishing work, do not forget to save our masterpiece.

I like to create compositions with tables. Open Word - Insert - Tables. We create a small table, set a design for it, and insert a picture into each window and you will get a simple photo puzzle of images.

Photoshop.

And now we come to photoshop. We launch the photo editor Photoshop. Beforehand, you need to select images for the composition. After starting, we load all the selected pictures into it.

Advice. Choose no more than 8 photos, otherwise it will be difficult to see them.

We press to create a file and we select the size more than an expected result. Next, paste the photos onto the canvas with the “copy” - “paste” command.

We arrange the pictures in the order we want. The next step is to merge all the layers and optionally add a watermark.

This is the kind of collage that you don't look at every minute. It's kind of a movie. To do this, you need to download the Movie Maker program, it is absolutely free. Run her. Transfer all the photos you want and your favorite tune. Add interesting transitions, adjust the duration of each image so that you don't end up with the song ending before the photos show.

Advice! Play the video before saving to make sure everything goes as it should.

And save your creation. This will be a great gift for a birthday, wedding anniversary or any other very important occasion.

On this, my article "how to create a collage from photos on a computer" came to an end. Hope you like it. Create your masterpieces, visualize and achieve your goals.

Have you brought a bunch of shells from the sea and want them to remind you of a wonderful vacation every day? Do you want to turn your photo into an amazing gift for your loved one? Or maybe you can't wait to surprise your friends with the unusual design of your latest selfies? A collage will help. Let's figure out what a collage is and how to make it yourself.

What is a collage

The word "collage" came to us from the French language and originally meant 'glue, paste'. The collage was made the subject of art by followers of such art schools as cubism, futurism and others. To make a collage, the artists tried to get a kind of holistic image by gluing a wide variety of materials onto the original base - from scraps of newspapers to chips, from fabrics to stones.

A collage is a set of diverse elements that form a single image. The collage clearly shows us that the sum of the components can become something more. No wonder the French poet Louis Argon said: "Collage is an art that challenges painting." A collage can be a composition made from natural materials, an appliqué made from fabrics of different textures, or a mosaic made from digital photographs. Lots of room for imagination, isn't it?

In our time, when digital technologies have made the art of photography accessible to everyone, and the fashion for selfies has penetrated all corners of the globe, photos are most often the material for collage. What is a photo collage and how to make it, we will discuss in the next section.

How to make a photo collage

A photo collage usually contains many photos, and can serve as a design for only one. In any case, you will not need scissors or glue to create a modern photo collage.

Select photos.

Make copies of the photos you intend to work with and place them in a separate folder on your smartphone, computer or tablet.

Select a graphic editor.

Professional graphic editors provide the greatest opportunities for creating collages, but their use requires special skills. If you are not a professional designer, use special programs - collage makers. They come online and offline, for desktops, tablets and smartphones.

Pick a background.

Be careful when choosing a background for a future collage. Will it be monochromatic to emphasize and unite colorful elements, or, on the contrary, bright and expressive in order to favorably set off the selected photos? Or maybe there will be so many photos that the background is not visible? In any case, the right background will help during the work.

Position key photos.

Start your collage with key elements: decide which photos will play the main role and which ones will play a secondary role. Adjust the brightness, contrast, play with filters to draw the viewer's attention to the most important points of the composition. Think about framing: maybe you should cut off everything that is superfluous. Adjust the position, rotation angle and dimensions of each photo.

Sometimes it's worth developing a theme.

Complete the main elements with secondary details. Most programs offer their own set of elements and tools, but no matter how great their choice is, it is still limited. Look for the right images on the Internet. These can be professional photos of landscapes of the places you have visited, or sets of fonts and special elements for working with graphics - clipart. Flowers or butterflies, monograms of artsy frames or a scattering of children's toys, strict lines of elements of a Japanese rock garden or neon blots of the most unexpected forms - everything is subject to your imagination.

Work out the details.

Having compiled a coherent composition, work out small details: a neat combination of the edges of individual elements, the order of layering, some additional strokes and dots, little things that sometimes change everything.

Important: save your work often to avoid accidents, because it will be a shame if you have to start all over again.

Finally, the collage is ready. It remains to insert paper into the printer, attach a file to an e-mail or upload it to Instagram, and it will start to surprise and delight your friends. And now you know from your own experience that creating a photo collage with your own hands is not so difficult. Creative success!

INTRODUCTION

A wide scope for creativity, by creating works using a variety of materials, gives the collage technique.

Is it possible to combine the creation of a collage with modern information technologies and will such work be in demand by modern teenagers?

To solve the problem, the goal was determined: the development and implementation of compositions in the "collage" technique using modern computer technologies.

To achieve this goal, the following tasks were defined:

    To study special literature and other sources of information on the topic of the project;

    Consider the "collage" technique as a direction of fine art and decorative art;

    Describe the technological process of creating compositions using the "collage" technique;

    Evaluate the quality of finished compositions;

    Make a presentation of the compositions and analyze the results.

The practical significance of the project lies in the possibility of using theoretical and practical material in teaching the "collage" technique in the subjects "technology", "fine arts" and "computer science".

CHAPTER 1. GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ART OF COLLAGE

1.1. WHAT IS "COLLAGE"

Collage(French collage - gluing, sticker), a technique for creating a picture or graphic work by applying various stickers from flat (photos, tickets, fabrics, newspaper clippings and colored paper, etc.) or bulky (wire, wood, ropes, metal) materials.

A collage is also called a work entirely made in this technique. Collage is used mainly to obtain the effect of surprise from the combination of dissimilar materials, as well as for the emotional richness and sharpness of the work. The collage can be completed by any other means - ink, watercolor, etc.

Collage was introduced into art as an experiment by the Cubists, Futurists and Dadaists.

Cubism(fr.t Cubisme) is a modernist trend in the visual arts, primarily in painting, which originated at the beginning of the 20th century in France and is characterized by the use of geometrized conditional forms, the desire to "split" real objects into stereometric primitives. Representatives of this trend are Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.

Futurism(lat. futurum future listen)) is a common name for the artistic avant-garde movements of the 1910s and early 1920s, primarily in Italy and Russia. Futurists were interested not so much in the content as in the form of versification.

Dadaism- avant-garde trend in literature, fine arts, theater and cinema. Existed from 1916 to 1922. The founder of the movement, the poet Tristan Tzara, discovered the word "dada" in the dictionary.

At the beginning of the 20th century, at the stage of development of the collage technique, scraps of newspapers, photographs, wallpaper were used for pictorial purposes, pieces of fabric, chips, etc. were pasted onto the canvas. It is believed that Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso were the first to use the collage technique in art in 1910-1912.

1.3. IT ALL STARTED WITH…

In 1908, Pablo Picasso created the first painting with pieces of paper pasted into it. They seemed to remind the audience that life can invade art. This seemed very strange to contemporaries, and yet it is from this moment that the history of collage originates - a “composite” work of art, involving gluing a picture from dissimilar fragments. The generally accepted date for the emergence of collage in European and Russian art is 1912, the year of birth of the Still Life with a Wicker Chair.

1.4. DEVELOPMENT OF THE ART OF COLLAGE IN RUSSIA

In Russian art, the first collages are considered to be the works of Aristarkh Vasilyevich Lentulov (1882 - 1943), a Russian and Soviet painter, theater artist, one of the founders of the Russian Avant-Garde. In the work "Moscow" (1913) the artist used paper stickers, in the work "Vasily the Blessed" (1913) - foil stickers. In the 60s, the famous artist Ilya Glazunov turned to the collage technique. So he created the painting "The Old Man", and many other works of historical subjects.

2. GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF CREATING A COLLAGE

2.1. TYPES OF COLLAGE

In contemporary art, the following types of collage are distinguished:

Decoupage is the art of decorating objects by sticking colored paper clippings in combination with special effects such as coloring, cutting, gold leaf coating and others.

Assemblage is a technique that uses three-dimensional elements or whole objects. In other words, this is a voluminous collage.

Application - creation of artistic images by gluing, sewing multi-colored pieces of any material onto fabric or paper. An image, a pattern created in this way.

Film collage - a film in which fragments of feature, documentary and animated films are organically combined

Montage or computer collage - the technique of creating a whole image from a number of separate fragments of other images, using computer programs, for example: PhotoShop. A collage of photographs or photo collage, as a form of fine art, appeared after the emergence of photography in the 19th century. At that time, in order to create a photo collage, certain sections of photographs were cut out and pasted onto some kind of base.

2.2. COLLAGE STYLES

At the moment, there are four main styles used to make a collage: vegetative, decorative, landscape, form-linear. Collages are usually made with the help of a passe-partout and a frame.

2.3. COLLAGE TECHNIQUES

The technique of making collages is very diverse: traditional appliqué, mosaic, mixed media.

2.4. COLLAGE CONSTRUCTION SCHEMES

There are many schemes for constructing a collage; they are based on the principles of psychological perception of reality by a person.

    "Loneliness" - is solved through the representation of one object and a huge empty surrounding space.

    "Small value" - is transmitted through contrasting comparisons of a small object with a large object.

    "Depression" - is transmitted through the placement of the object in the lower part of the plane and the heavy upper part overloaded with elements and colors.

CHAPTER 3. DESCRIPTION OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING COMPOSITIONS IN THE "COLLAGE" TECHNIQUE

3.1. RATIONALE FOR THE CHOICE OF TYPE, THEME, STYLE AND SCHEME OF COMPOSITIONS

When choosing the theme of the composition, the following criteria were determined:

    collage should carry information about its creator;

    collage should reflect the dreams, desires and life goals of its creator.

From the planned options "Me and my interests", "My goals and desires", "Me and my friends", a choice was made and the theme was determined - "Collage of my desires". The computer collage is based on personal photographs and thematic pictures, so the main elements of the background of the collage will be geometric shapes - rhombuses, squares, circles, etc. This feature determines the choice of the form-linear style of the collage.

The choice of collage scheme is based on contrasting comparisons of a large object (the main goal) and small objects (personal growth, family, beauty, health, travel, success, career, material values).

3.2. SELECTION OF MATERIALS FOR COMPOSITIONS

Personal photographs and thematic pictures in electronic form are used as materials, since in one version of the composition it is supposed to use the technique of combining various materials, we may find it useful:

    Outdated issues of magazines with bright headlines;

    PVA glue or silicate glue stick;

    Frames for collage design in A4 and A3 format.

3.3. SELECTION OF COMPUTER PROGRAM

The Internet contains a lot of information about programs that can create a collage. When choosing a computer program, the following criteria were taken into account: the freeness of the program, the simple development of the program by a novice user, protection from computer viruses and a large selection of tools (capabilities) of the program. Thus, we have determined the choice of a computer program for further work - Picture Collage Maker Pro 3.0.7.3499.

3.4. TECHNOLOGICAL CHART OF MANUFACTURING PRODUCTS IN THE TECHNIQUE "COLLAGE"

The technological map of the manufacture of the product using the "collage" technique is presented in Appendix No. 1

3.5. PRODUCT COST AND TIME COST CALCULATION

The cost of 3 products (two - A4 format and one - A3 format) is 523.0 rubles. The time frame for the manufacture of the product is from 20 to 90 minutes. On average, no more than 50 minutes can be spent on the manufacture of a product.

3.6. SELF-ASSESSMENT AND PRODUCT EVALUATION

During self-assessment of products, I found out that my compositions meet the criteria: they are made using computer technology, are simple, modern and popular among young people, and most importantly, they are informative, i.e. reflect my dreams, desires, aspirations and life goals.

After asking friends and acquaintances, I found out that my friend likes creativity and modernity, the class teacher likes easy execution and originality, classmates like minimal time and individuality. Thus, the goal and objectives that were defined in the creative project have been achieved.

CONCLUSION

Once upon a time, Pablo Picasso was one of the first to use collage in his work, making a real revolution in art, and today the use of collage in computer, book, magazine and Web design is a common practice in using this technique.

The laws of artistic thinking, artistic development of the world around us and its image are the same for a writer, poet, artist, sculptor, composer. The material in which they embody their visions, thoughts, feelings, experiences is different: these are words, paints and canvases, marble and bronze, sounds and, due to technological progress, computer technologies. The tools they use are also different. But the basic artistic means are the same for everyone: those who embody their artistic intent with the help of a brush, and for those who prefer computer technology to express their inner creative world.

COLLAGE "MY DREAMS AND WISHES"

The collage technique is great for activities with children. Since this is not only creativity, but also a kind of game. And there is no shortage of necessary materials. You can always find old magazines or colorful promotional books from hypermarkets with promotional goods at hand. It will be fun and just cut and glue everything in a row, creating a kind of chaotic mosaic. But it is still better to streamline this work somewhat, subordinating it to any particular topic.

You can easily find many worthy examples of this in the materials of this section. And you will not only find it, but, we hope, use it in your classes with your wards.
